Magnificent You!

It seems to me that it feels acceptable to share our drama, but when it comes to sharing our triumphs or celebrating our successes, it all taboo! What’s up with that? Is it because we have been conditioned that nice girls (or boys) don’t “brag”? Just like the six o’clock news, we are sensationalizing the latest drama of the day. We shrug off our accomplishments and play small so we don’t appear like a swanky, big headed, show off.

We’ve all done this, you bump into a friend and immediately start with the latest scoop -unfulfilling career, broken or lack of the right relationship, illness, lost job, road rage, how busy we are, and on and on. We may even catch ourselves upping the person in an exchange of the tragedy of the day. Now, I am not saying that we should pretend everything to be all rainbows and unicorns! Having a good support system in place is super critical to navigating life’s obstacles. I just can’t help but notice how out of balance our everyday, casual conversations have become.

Has our fear of not belonging caused us to dim our lights in order be loved? This inspiring quote from Marianne Williamson couldn’t be more fitting. As you read it (or re-read it,) let the words permeate you.

Our Deepest Fear
by Marianne Williamson

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

spectrum girl

In order to fully experience life, it’s important to celebrate and share the full spectrum of ourselves – the good, the bad and the ugly! So have at it –shine your light, boast your accomplishments, brag about what you did, share your joys, and stand on the top of the world as shout – I DID IT!!!

Raising my glass to you – you brilliant, talented, magnificent, glorious YOU!!

With much love and gratitude,
Lorraine
